Moody Pavlova — Handwoven Wall Hanging in Magenta, Plum & Cream

A berries-and-cream dream. Big twists of magenta roving swoop across the piece, surrounded by clouds of cream wool, puffs of bubblegum pink, curly loops of deep plum, and a little burst of pink-and-red loops that looks like a flower opening up. Swirls of variegated art yarn add sparkle between the layers, and the whole thing hangs from a dowel wrapped in soft pink yarn, finished with matching tassels on each end.

At the bottom, a full layer of hot pink fringe sits over long strands of cream, plum, and blush, some twisted and some knotted for extra texture. Several weaving techniques come together here: roving twists and clouds, loop and curl stitches, rya knot fringe, wrapped hanging rod, and a classic tabby weave holding it all in place.

Woven by hand from sustainably sourced materials: thrifted yarns and wool from farm vendors.

About the Maker
I learned to weave during my time in Appalachia. The traditions still shape how I work: slowly, by hand, with materials that have a story. Every piece I make carries a little of that mountain-life patience, with an added splash of New Orleans joie de vivre.
