Coat of Many Colors — Handwoven Wall Hanging in Burgundy, Mustard & Magenta

$79

A warm, cozy patchwork of a piece. Blocks of burgundy, slate blue, sky blue, marigold, and tan stack up like a well-loved quilt, layered with chunky chocolate-brown loops, a twist of creamy wool, olive green braids, a sunny mustard swirl, and one little cloud of mint. A vintage gold-and-brown twisted trim crowns the top, a row of cream wool bubbles sits above a bold magenta fringe, and long strands of burgundy, cream, and wool locks finish the bottom.

It’s earthy and vintage-feeling, with just enough brightness to wake up a room. Several weaving techniques come together here: color-block tapestry weave, soumak braids, roving loops and twists, rya knot fringe, and a classic tabby weave holding it all in place.

Woven by hand from sustainably sourced materials: thrifted yarns and wool from farm vendors.

About the Maker
I learned to weave during my time in Appalachia. The traditions still shape how I work: slowly, by hand, with materials that have a story. Every piece I make carries a little of that mountain-life patience, with an added splash of New Orleans joie de vivre.
