In Full Bloom — Handwoven Wall Hanging in Hot Pink, Mustard & Olive

A big, bold bouquet of a piece. Clusters of mustard roving bloom like marigolds alongside puffs of bubblegum pink, coils of olive green, and chunky rust-orange braids, all set against angled patches of slate blue, sky blue, hot pink, and deep burgundy. Wisps of coral art yarn peek through the layers, and a little tassel burst of pink, magenta, and gold dances in the top corner. It all finishes in a long, swishy fringe of hot pink and blush.

It’s full of texture and movement, with shapes that tilt and tumble instead of sitting in neat rows. Several weaving techniques come together here: roving loops and coils, soumak braids, tassel accents, angled color-block weaving, and a classic tabby weave holding it all in place.

Woven by hand from sustainably sourced materials: thrifted yarns and wool from farm vendors.

About the Maker
I learned to weave during my time in Appalachia. The traditions still shape how I work: slowly, by hand, with materials that have a story. Every piece I make carries a little of that mountain-life patience, with an added splash of New Orleans joie de vivre.
